Thank You Lord for the Phone and the Computer April 11. 2008
The highlight of today -- The Rays finally beat Seattle 7-0. I hope they continue this winning business.Â
That is highlight in the sports dept. but in the friends dept. I talked with two of my dear friends from back in Florida. I called Jean H. the Organist in my Church back there to tell her about the Pianist in my Church up here. I wanted to tell Jean that the Lady here had played "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" which was a favorite at our Church in Florida and then the very next Sunday played "The Old Rugged Cross" which was my Husband's favorite hymn. I wrote her a note to let her know how much it meant to me to hear her play those two hymns.Â
Then I had a call from my friend Barbara and we talked I know for at least an hour. We had a lot of catching up to do. She brought me up to date on all the activities at Church there. She also wanted to tell me how her Granddaughter made out with her Oral Surgery today. She did fine.Â
She has promised to come visit when she is up this way during the holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas that is.
No news from Daughter Rebecca or friend Jimmie today. Maybe tomorrow.Â

Finding my inner jacket April 9. 2008
First thing upon opening the drape at noon today was seeing A beautiful Cardinal at the Bird Feeder eating away. I told you they eat on the same time schedule we do. He was joined by his mate - a female Cardinal - and they ate and probably chatted about what each was doing today before going in opposite directions. Â
The day was fairly normal. I walked around the Patio in the sunshine while Joann hung up clothes. Then about 4 PM she got a call from Bill. He had to work late. With that she said to me "Do you want to ride into town with me to get the mail?" I, of course, said "Yes" and took off to get changed to my going to town clothes. I put a jacket on (that Pink Jacket again). I was shocked when I found that it had four layers. No wonder it was so heavy. There's a Vest, The second layer which is reversible and can be worn as a Wind Breaker or turn it inside out and you've got a Fleece Jacket. Oh,  and don't forget the hood. I wore it with the Wind Breaker out so that the Fleece was next to me in case it got cold before we got back home.

Springtime in the Mountains April 8. 2008
Driving into town today I thought to myself folks come from all over the U.S. to see the leaves turning in the fall but they should be coming in the spring when the trees and the flowers are blooming. The Pear Tree, the Dogwood, the Orchid tree. The Pear Tree does not bear fruit but is shaped like a pear and has the most beautiful white blossoms on all summer. The Dogwood is Pink and the Orchid tree is a deep Purple. All so beautiful.Â
When I opened the drape this morning I saw a pot of Yellow Tulips. I love Tulips and had several different colored plants in the yard of our home in Steubenville. I mentioned to Bill that I had seen several Tulip plants the last time I was out and how much I like them.  Guess that was hint enough.Â
Hear daily from Becky. She is now in Geneva, Switzerland. I must ask her if she has learned to Yodel. Knowing her she probably has. Joann is still Beading getting ready for the Church Bazaar. Heard from our friend Jimmie about his visit to Italy. We must be careful that the Italians don't adopt him.
Also, had a call from a Gentleman friend from Church to talk about The Rays.Â
So, other than The Rays losing to Seattle tonight it has been a very nice day.  We would have had a chance to win except for a bad call from the Third Base Umpire. Oh well, maybe tomorrow we will win.  Hope so.

It's About Time April 6. 2008
What a pleasant day this has been. We went to Church and it was Communion Sunday. My Church back in Florida had Communion the first Sunday of every month but here they have it quarterly.Â
The folks in the congregation are so very pleasant. I am sure if I continue to attend Cornerstone Presbyterian I will fit in just as I did at LSPC.Â
So, then when we got home the ballgame came on. The Rays were playing the Yankees again. They beat them Friday and Saturday but not today. I know exactly why the Rays did not win today it was too cold. Our players actually had ski masks on trying to keep warm. Our announcer Joe Magrane said it was impossible to get a grip on the ball when it was as cold as it was in New York today. We play NY again tomorrow evening and I hope it is a lot warmer.Â
When the game was over Bill brought me a plate of pasta and meatballs. Joann had made sauce and meatballs as only she can. I ate so much I sure won't have to have a snack before going to bed tonight.
Ron and Sue stopped in for a visit. Veronica called and we had a nice long conversation. Had an e-mail yesterday from our friend Jimmie who is visiting in Italy for a month. So, in addition to a pleasant day it has been a pleasant week end.
On the way home from Church I was noticing the trees that have been bare since October I think. They have tiny little sprouts coming on that will soon be leaves. It is so interesting to watch these trees and plants come to life.
That's my week end hope yours has been as pleasant.

Pardon my Dust April 3. 2008
My Mom and Dad lived at the bottom of Market Street Hill in Steubenville, Ohio where they got soot and dirt from the Coal Mine and the Steel Mills. Oh yes, and they were just a half a block from the Pennsylvania Railroad Station so got the dirt from the trains going through every day.Â
As you drove down into town there would be a blanket of smog laying so low you could almost touch it. This meant that a home in that area had to be dusted every day if you wanted to remain breathing.
Fred and Joann and Becky and I lived out the road where the air was fresh and clean.Â
I would take the girls and go down to my Mom and Dad's every day and dust for them. The girls loved being with Nana and Papa.  I did not mind the dusting part of our visit except for one piece of furniture an Etagere that was crammed full of figurines, and gifts that had been received over the years.  Had to move each item to dust under it.  It was in the Sitting Room and we would all be in there just having a great time. The girls on the floor with Papa. Nana had one eye on me to make sure I was handling the treasures carefully. I would just finish when it would be time to get home to make dinner for Fred.
I guess what brought this to mind was my dusting the Dining Room here today. I do one room at a time. I, too, have an Etagere and it houses my Fenton Glass Ware. Thank goodness I don't have to dust it every day. Once every two weeks is OK.
What a joy it is to remember.

My Day! April 2. 2008
Up at 7:30 this morning to get ready for a Dental appointment. We left at 9 AM, me in my Pink Jacket (one layer removed) and no hood. It was not all that cold this morning with the sun shining brightly.Â
We arrived at the Dentist's parking lot and Joann let me out of the car at the ramp while she found a parking space. All but one of my Doctors have a ramp up into their office. The ramp this morning was spotted with rain drops meaning it had rained there before our arrival. Maybe these ramps have something to do with the fact we live in the mountains.Â
In the office, we just got settled in a seat when the young lady called us in. Joann always goes in with me because I usually have a long wait for the Dentist. Not so today. He came in and filled two teeth in record time.Â
Out we go, me waiting at the bottom of the ramp and Joann gone to get the car. A gentleman came along and asked if I needed help and with that Joann pulls up. He took my arm, walked me to the car, and helped me in. I can't say enough about the folks up here. So friendly. So helpful.Â
My Daughter Becky is off on a business trip. I will be happy when I hear that she arrived safely in London. Â
