The Uninvited Guest October 6. 2007
Have you ever had a guest drop in on you unexpected? Well, we have this past week.  Oh, it was not just one. I know you are just so eager to know who these guests were, aren't you?
Â
The uninvited guests were Monarch Butterflies on their way to Mexico. They stopped off in Transylvania County to  refuel and get ready for the rest of their trip.  The natives tell me this is a yearly thing and they look forward to it every year. I hope J & B don't volunteer to count them because there are thousands of them.
Â
My friend Sandy would be thrilled to see these beautiful flitters.Â
Â
Well, that is the latest from here.Â

Rain, Rain go away October 4. 2007
I am glad this is not my day to walk because the weather outside is frightful. It's barely 60 and raining. It was raining when I opened the drapes this morning and it is now 4 PM and it is still raining. It is just a year ago today that we left St. Pete
and made Pisgah Forest our home.
Â
Yesterday was a beautiful day and I did walk and saw many interesting things on the trip into town.  The City is decorated for Halloween. Every light pole in each block is covered with corn stalks and orange ribbon. It's nice to see they use the corn stalks for something. This is corn country. Some folks have corn growing in their front yard. This is ironic that I should live in corn country and not able to eat corn even though I love it.Â
Â
While Joann visited the Bead Store, Bill showed me the route they have been assigned to work their latest endeavor. They have volunteered to count White Squirrels. On the tour of the area they are to count Bill and I saw 4 White Squirrels. I hope that will go into their report.  My one concern is how are they going to know they are not counting the same ones over and over.Â
Â
Please join me in wishing for sunshine tomorrow because it is my day to walk.

Drawing from my memory banks October 2. 2007
Nothing exciting today so I will tell you about a TV show Joann and I watched last evening. It was about two young men both Physicists. They live in an apartment across the hall from a gorgeous blonde. She is not a very good housekeeper, her apartment is a mess. They go over to her apartment when she is asleep and pick up all the things laying around and clean it for her. It is really a very funny show and I will watch it again.
Â
Well, when I heard these young men were Physicists I told Joann I knew a Physicist once. She laughed and maybe thought "here goes Mom with one of her wild stories". It is true though.Â
Â
He was just out of college and his parents were neighbors. He went to work in the Space Program. We were so proud of him.
Â
The sad thing is I have not heard of him or his family since leaving Steubenville.Â
Â
For those of you that don't know Dean Martin came from our town also. He used to work at a gas station on the corner from my home. Â
Â
Excuse me for bragging a bit:
Â
My Husband made a name for himself being voted "Coach of the Year" in 1988. He received a beautiful cut glass trophy before an international crowd of 500 bowlers.
Â
I will tell you tomorrow about my two Daughters.Â

The latest from Peaceful Place October 1. 2007
Just got off the phone from talking with my Daughter Becky. She was calling from Venice, Italy. Tomorrow she takes a train to Florence and then on to Milan later in the week and then on to Geneva, Switzerland, a business trip.Â
By the way, she told me she did see the moon over there shining across the Adriatic Sea. I am sure that was a beautiful sight.Â
Â
Well, here it is October 1st. It does not seem possible that I have lived here a year already, well come Wednesday the third it will be one year.  Bill and Joann have made this a happy year for me. This past week end they attended a Marr family get together in Florida while celebrating their 33rd Wedding Anniversary.
Â
The temperature is up from 60 to almost 70 out there. The sun is shining brightly.  But it is definitely jacket weather.  As a matter of fact I may even switch on the electric blanket tonight because I don't want to turn the furnace on yet.
Â
Hope you all have a good Monday, October 1, 2007.
