Everybody Loves Somebody... June 12. 2008
And we love Dino.
It was a really great day today until we lost the game to the LAAngels. We did not lose that game the Home Plate Umpire gave it to the Angels.  He had two bad calls. Then he threw our Manager out for complaining.Â
Joann saved the day when she came in with a CD of the "Dean Martin Variety Shows".   We watched it twice it was so good. There were some great stars in this first one like Frank Sinatra, Johnny Carson, Orson Wells, Goldie Hawn, Ann Margaret, to name a few.  The best one I think was the skit with Bob Newhart where he wants to return a toupee his wife had bought him.  It was a riot.
Of course, Dean's singing was the greatest. He was a favorite of our whole family not only because he was a great performer but he came from our home town.Â
They have a big celebration in Steubenville every year on the anniversary of his birth. We were there one year for it early on.
One year when Dean and Jerry Lewis were together they came to Steubenville. There was a parade and they rode in an open car. My friend Margaret and I stood on Market Street watching the parade. It was a thrill to see both Dean and Jerry.
My Husband knew Dean both being Italian and about the same age, they traveled in the same crowds.  Margaret's family knew Dean and his family also.Â
I have enjoyed this DVD so much I have forgotten about the ball game.
Hope your day has been a pleasant one also.

Family and Friends make my day special June 10. 2008
Not much to write about this evening. The Rays/Angels game does not come on until 10 PM so what do I watch until then?Searched the Net, no that's not right the Net is the Computer isn't it? This Direct TV has hundreds of Channels so I turned to the Sports Channels and saw that the Braves were playing the Chicago Cubs. We were Brave fans before the Rays came into existence so I will watch them for one hour until the Rays game comes on.Â
I did talk with my friend Barbara this afternoon. She is busy at Church getting ready for a Bazaar. Also two of her young Grand Daughters are visiting she and John for the summer.  I got to say hi to Kelly but not Amanda.  Maybe next time Amanda will answer the phone.  Like their Grand Mother and Grand Father they are a joy to know.
Got my daily report on James and Veronica, had an e-mail from Becky, Joann hurried home from her daily chores in town and she and Bill are having dinner at the moment.Â
Now if the Rays win tonight it will be a perfect ending to a perfect day.
Even if they don't win, today has been a good day. Thank You, Lord.

When there's nothing exciting to talk about... June 9. 2008
there's always
                                 THE WEATHER
Â
Well, I have put the Pink Jacket away in moth balls until winter.  It was in the high 90s here today and that was hotter than it was in Florida.Â
Probably there are some that think this might be the beginning of the end.  You never know.
Joann has been on the go all day. She has taken over Bill's duties since he is gone all day. She had to pick up the mail, take the garbage to the City Dump, stop in and see her girl friends at the Bead Shop among other things.
Had a great dinner. Joann had made meat balls for company that has not surfaced yet and I got two of them. I baked a potato in the Microwave and for dessert I had a small dish of Hazin Days.Â
So, I am all set for the ball game to come on at 10 PM. My Rays are playing the Angels out in California.  Hope we win and I stay awake to see that win.

Memories Are Made Of This June 8. 2008
When I lived in Florida I used to have a small dish of Frozen Yogurt every evening after dinner. Coming up here I find it does not taste as good because it is so cold you would rather have a cup of hot tea. Besides they don't have the Brands I am used to. Joann has been buying the Haagen Dazs brand of late since it has warmed up a lot.  She gets a pint at a time and that is about four servings for me.Â
After dinner I had a small dish of HD Frozen Yogurt and it reminded me of a time I took a neighbor shopping and she asked me to take her to Eckerd's. They had Ice Cream on special that day. Well, when we got there all the Ice Cream that was on special was sold out and all they had left was Haagen Dazs.  When she came out of the store empty handed I asked her where is the Ice Cream? She said "they were all sold out of the special and the only kind they had was $2.50 a pint and I am not going to pay that much."  I asked her what kind it was and she replied "Hazin Days".  So every bite I take of this Frozen Yogurt I think of my friend Caroline.Â
She was a very talented Lady and made me many beautiful things. One thing I use every day is a perpetual Calendar. Every time I change from month to month I think of her. She also taught my Husband to make Angels out of Crochet thread. It made his last months more pleasurable.  Every year I have a Christmas Tree decorated with Angels he made.Â
Daughter Becky gave credit to Caroline for teaching her Father this craft that helped him in his last days with us at the Memorial Service at the Bowling Lanes where Fred bowled.

Never a Dull Moment June 7. 2008
I never even opened the doors today so what can I write that is of any interest? Â
Bill had the day off so he and Joann had some errands in town. While they were gone I read a little more of the Book they gave me for Mother's Day. The one Jeff Klinkenberg wrote. I may end up liking to read - wouldn't that be something.
Had a call from a friend from way back.  I have not seen her in years but we always call one another on birthdays. This was not my birthday but she said she was just wanting to check on me and my family. It was good to talk with her.Â
When Joann returned home she told me she had volunteered to count White Squirrels again this year. But who is going to work with her since Bill will still be in the Academy. She said "well how about you"? I will probably record her sightings because the little critters are gone before my eyes catch them.
If anyone had told me I would be involved in counting White Squirrels, well you know the rest.
My Rays won again tonight. They beat Texas 5-4. The games are so exciting - don't know how much more my heart can take.
Tomorrow is Sunday. Hope you make it to Church.

You could have heard a pin drop June 6. 2008
Went for a PT test this morning. The Doctors office was filled with patients. There were three women, three men, two young folks (Drug Reps.) Joann and I. As we sat there looking at one another but not saying a word I thought of that movie "Moonstruck" where the family is all around the kitchen table and after minutes of silence the Grandfather says in broken English "Somebody tell a joke".  It's just hard for me to keep my mouth shut for such a long time.
Going down the mountain road with all the trees full of bright green leaves it is like driving through a tunnel of trees.  You don't see anything but trees till you get down to the farm on the road to town.Â
Guess I will go watch the rest of the Rays game. It's the 7th inning. After last nights brawl with Boston this has been a good game. The score at the moment is 3-1 and I just heard the score of the Boston/Seattle game. Boston was shut out 8-0

Dear Me! June 5. 2008
All day yesterday while Nancy and Tom were here we were hoping a Deer would come on the property. No such luck. But today the Mama Deer must have sounded the All Clear because there were eight Deer in the Back Yard.. They were taking turns bathing in the Pond. One even jumped over the Bridge into the Pond when it was his turn. I have seen them jump the fence in the side yard and wonder how they do that without hurting their legs. They are very agile, keen and fast.
I am sure Nancy and Tom have seen a Deer or two in their life time but they had never seen a White Squirrel so the little tour of the City was not a total loss when we saw two of the little critters playing and climbing the trees on the College Campus.
Nancy has pictures to prove it too.
Nothing to do today except take it easy and wait for the Rays game. Well, it's a good thing I rested because the brawl in the Third Inning was a little more excitement than I can handle. Losing the game 7-1 did not help my nerves much either. Â
Friend Leslie sent three Rays Posters that will go up on the board with my other ones she sent. Thank you Leslie.Â
That's it for today. Maybe the Rays will shine tomorrow and get back in First Place. I hope.

Happy Day Today June 4. 2008
What a nice day this has been. I got up at 6:30 AM, could not sleep thinking about the visit of my good friends Nancy and Tom. Joann went into town to pick them up at the Hotel. It seemed like hours until they arrived to my door.  We visited for a couple of hours. N & T bringing me up to date on all my Church friends.  Nancy took pictures and more pictures. I think she is the official Photographer of LSPC.
We went looking for White Squirrels on the Brevard College Campus.  Sure enough there were two spotted and cameras were rolling.Â
Then came time for lunch so off we went to the Fish Camp.Â
Nancy loves Cat Fish and so do I. That is what I always ordered until my Doctor told me no more fried foods. I settled for chicken and macaroni and cheese (not as good as yours James).Â
By now my friends should be at the next stop on their way home for the summer. I guess they remembered what Harry Truman said "If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen". The kitchen in this case being Florida. Oh, did I mention it was 90 degrees here today? Getting into the SUV after lunch I thought we were back in Florida because it was like getting into a Sauna.  I even caught myself admitting I was warm. Â
I will be counting the days until another visitor comes through my door.

Where was Betty when the Lights Went Out? June 2. 2008
A neighbor down in Florida sold those beautiful candles and, of course, Joann and I bought quite a few. Becky has sent me many also. I always think of that Lady that said if she had her life to live over she would burn the candles she had instead of letting them melt in storage.  That will never be the case up here. It seems the little critters that roam the neighborhood at night sometimes come in contact with a Transformer and there go our lights.
I hate the dark. I have night lights all over and if they go out during the night I have two Lanterns and a Flashlight.
There was one time I would not burn a candle more than a few minutes. Adith, a dear friend, gave me a Candle to burn on New Years Eve at the turn of the Century. It is shaped with the numbers 2000.
Joann, Bill, James and Veronica and I were all together to see the new year in. We lit the candle just before midnight and I insisted we blow it out 15 minutes after the new year came in. James wanted me to let it burn down but for some crazy unknown reason I said "no we will light it each year until it is done".  Well, every time I see that Candle in my China Cabinet I regret not letting it burn down. We have not taken it out since the year 2000 came in. I am sorry James. Wish I had listened to you then.Â
Maybe tomorrow I can tell you why I don't like the dark.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BECKY June 1. 2008
This is the anniversary of my younger Daughter's birth. I am sorry she could not be here so we could all celebrate with her. I called her and we talked but I did not tell her all I would like to have. Â
She has had a very interesting life. The friends she had while in Grade School she still has. Whenever she gets back to her adopted home town all the old gang get together at a Bar & Grill owned by one of her school friends.
When she was 18 she went to work in a Bank and moved into her own apartment. She has had several jobs before finding her current profession. After the Bank, she worked selling cemetary plots (only lasted four days) and for a Dermatologist; she was Office Manager at a Lama Ranch; she is now a Pilates Instructor has her own Studio and teaches Instructors in many foreign countries.Â
Her Sister and I are so proud of her. I am sorry her Grand-
Parents and Father are not here to see she is a successful and happy young woman.
