A Span of Sixty or More Years May 10. 2008
We just watched the most amazing baseball game. The Rays beat the Angels 2-0 in the Ninth Inning.  They are playing at home so we got last bat. There were two men out in the 9th and Longoria hit a WO (that is a Walk Off) Home Run with Upton on 2nd.Â
What is even more amazing - we won last night beating Toronto and I told you about our many trips to Canada. Tonight we played Los Angeles Angels and after my complaining to my Dad about always going to Canada on vacation he wondered if I might like going to California for a change. Oh, I was all for that.Â
The first year we went out West we went the Northern route and came home the Southern route. That way we saw more of the country. It took us 5 days. Only one driver - my Dad.  We went to Los Angeles and San Diego. We wanted to go to San Francisco but my Dad got Bursitis in his shoulder from all the driving so we spent a few days in San Diego and then started back home. We made four trips to California and then our sights turned to Florida - but that's a whole different story.

OH OH Canada! May 9. 2008
Just finished watching the Rays win over Toronto Blue Jays 8-3 in 13 innings. We were winning going into the 9th inning but the Jays tied the score 3-3.  It was a good game.Â
I also wanted to mention one of the interesting trips we made to Canada.Â
It was in the 40s a Canadian Couple had Quintuplets. Five baby girls. This was in Calendar, Ontario. We had never been that far north in Canada but it would be worth the trip. I believe it was twice every day the little darlings would come out of their home, play in the yard, and even though there would be a crowd watching back of a fence they did not seem to be aware of anyone other than the five of them and the Nurses making sure they did not get hurt.Â
So, seeing the Quints and Niagara Falls my Father and Mother decided we would head west the next summer vacation. And so we did: California here we come.

"Oh Canada" May 7. 2008
Watching the game this evening (Rays at Jays} brought back memories of many trips to Canada when I was in my teens. My Mom and Dad loved going to Canada on vacation every summer. We would always take my friend Margaret along for company for me. We especially enjoyed the Falls. Standing looking at the Falls our hair would stand up with the electricity in the air. Â
After going the same place for several years we got so we had special areas we enjoyed and wanted to go back to each year. Every year I would buy a pair of fur lined Indian Moccasins. I just loved them.Â
One year my Mom bought some fruit and we had it in the trunk of the car.  When we went through customs the Inspector opened the trunk and it was loaded with ants - he just closed the trunk and motioned for us to get going.Â
Another time we stopped for the night at a cabin.  When I got into my bed I found it full of bed bugs. My Dad tried killing all we could find and then we went to bed.  Just to be safe I put cotton in my ears so these pests could not get into my head. It was a long night and ever after that my Mom and Dad would check everything out before we would make that our stop for the night.
In closing I am sorry to say the Rays lost to the Jays tonight 6-2. If we had 4 more innings to play we might have won. We scored the two runs in the 9th inning with two men out.

Today, Tomorrow, and the next Day May 7. 2008
Today has been one of those days when you wish you had stayed in bed - that is until this evening when the Rays beat the Jays 5-4. Oh, there was one other bright spot. Joann sold a set of Jewelry to a Lady in the Drs. Office.  Seems she had been to the Bead Show Joann had recently and bought one set and wanted a special one made. Joann is working on it as I write.
Don't know that tomorrow will be any more exciting unless the Rays beat the Jays again.Â
Maybe I am not my usual perky self because Mother's Day is coming up and Becky won't be here. Neither will James or Veronica for Joann. Maybe we will be all together for birthdays - you never know.Â
I wish all you Mom's a special happy day Sunday.Â

No Blue Monday Here May 5. 2008
Nothing too exciting today. The Gentleman that checks the Oxygen machine I use at night for Sleep Apnea came today for the three month check up. It checked out fine. His name is Pressley and I wanted to ask him if he was related to Elvis but I decided everyone he ever met had asked him that so I will forever wonder was he or wasn't he.
Then at 6 o'clock I started my dinner. I am a little off schedule having Bacon and a Poached Egg today.  That is usually my Sunday after Church meal. Anyway, Joann cooks the Bacon and I poach the Egg.  We set a time to start both and she or Bill will be coming down the steps with the Bacon wrapped up to keep warm as I am taking the Egg out of the Egg Cooker.
Oh, I forgot to mention I made a slice of toast and as I waited for it to finish looked out the window and there was that beautiful Cardinal having his dinner which just reinforces my theory that Birds eat on the same schedule we do.
Another interesting note it was still daylight at 7:15 this evening. That must mean summer is just around the corner.

Don't forget to vote May 3. 2008
Two days after we moved up here Joann and Bill and I went to the Tag Office and they got their North Carolina plates and their Driver's Licenses changed over. I got an ID Card with picture. The Lady that helped me was very nice and asked me if I wanted to Register to Vote while I was there. I was pleased to get all this business taken care at once so said "yes".
Today, May 3, 2008, I went to vote. I had not been out, except to walk on the Patio in the sunshine, for two weeks,  so this was going to be a bit of a chore for me. J & B convinced me it would not be too much for me since I would not even have to get out of the car.  Seems they have drive ups and they will bring the ballot out for you to vote if you are having trouble or have been sick and would prefer not to go into the building.Â
Bill took me down about 9:30 this morning and there was a steady stream of folks coming and going to vote which is good.
Bill went in and he is in there a very long time. After a few seconds I forgot about the time it was taking for someone to come out to get my vote. I was enjoying the sunshine and the folks that were coming and going I found very interesting.Â
It seemed like maybe half an hour. I knew Bill had found one of his friends in there but that was not the hold up.
When I registered at the Tag Office I did not yet have a P.O. Box number. So, however they were addressing mail to me these 19 months it went back to them. Whatever they thought happened to me my name was removed from the Computer and therefore I had to register once again. Â
A lovely southern Lady came out with Bill, asked me to put my hand on the Bible and she read something and I think I said "I Do". Anyway, it's official again I am a registered voter in N.C.Â
Then she gave me a ballot and I filled it out. Signed a form  and she handed me a "I Voted" sticker which I have affixed to my desk calendar so that I will never forget my first vote in the Tar Heel State. Â
Hope everyone that reads this will be sure to vote. Â

Nature Hike May 3. 2008
Joann and I went out on the Patio this afternoon to soak up some sun. In Florida we tried to hide from the sun. Not up here. It was good to be out in the fresh air. I was amazed to see the fresh green leaves on the trees. Early in the week they were just buds.Â
There is one tree that has orange colored leaves and it is beautiful. Stands out among all the green leaves on the regular trees in the yard.Â
We walked around to the side yard and there is a bush up near the front just covered with white flowers. To me it looks like a Snow Ball Bush.  Then there is a bush with pretty purple flowers on it. Made the trip around the side of the house worth while because they are both so beautiful.
I will be going out again tomorrow - bet you can't guess what for. I am going to vote. I guess it is the Primary.Â
I am watching the Rays. They are playing the Boston Red Socks. I am not liking what I am seeing, but the game is not over yet. Win or lose you know the rest.Â
Heard from my Son-in-Law, a Boston fan who lives in Seattle, that he can not get the games on TV.  Just as well since the score at the moment is 6-l Boston.Â

Take Me Out To The Ole Ball Game May 1. 2008
I have the greatest friends. I had a neighbor at Five Towns who worked for a company that gave their employees tickets to the Devil Rays games. She always got four tickets and two neighbors on the other side of her and she and I would go to the games. They were great seats, and they came with dinner at a very nice restaurant downtown St. Petersburg. So the four of us would go a couple times a month which was a real treat. Time came when one of the Ladies was not able to go so our friend asked me to find someone to go so as not to waste the ticket. I asked several folks at Church but no one could go or wanted to go. I could not ask a couple because there was only the one ticket. Well, finally I thought about Jean H. Had no idea if she liked baseball but just attending the game at the stadium would be worth the trip. Anyway, much to my surprise she said she would love to go. My neighbor driving, we picked her up and away we went to the Dome. I don't even remember what team we were playing or if we won.  I know we had a good time. Jean especially because Raymond the Mascot gave her a hug as he passed by us.  Â
We all enjoyed each other's company and two of the neighbors later went to several of the Teas and other events at LSPC which was nice.Â
Do I have great friends or what?
